I studied at the University of Stellenbosch where I obtained my Masters degree in Public Administration with topic: "A Critical Analysis of Performance Management in the Public Service." I then joined the public service in 1982 as a Human Resource Practitioner where I worked until retirement in 2019 as a Deputy Director, age 62. After retirement, I registered with the South African Board for People Practices as a Chartered HR Professional. During my 37 years of service I was employed by the Provincial Administration, Western Cape and the Public Service Commission. As a HR specialist I was involved in a number of projects pertaining to HR policies and practices as well collective agreements at a national and provincial level.
