Dr Tobin was a teaching and research academic at three leading South African business schools from 1999 to 2012 and since that time has delivered his workshops and consulting advice widely across South Africa and in Botswana, DR Congo, Ivory Coast, Lesotho, Mauritius, Namibia, Nigeria, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Dr Tobin is a graduate of four universities and also holds four professional certifications in the field of data protection & privacy (CIPM), IT Governance (CGEIT), Project Management (PMP) and IT Professional (PMIITPSA). Dr Tobin has extensive experience in GDPR & POPI Act compliance projects and has a French-language GDPR competence certification. . He is based in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Since my last year of faculty i decided to develop a career in HR and I made the necessary efforts to get there and it appears to me now, when I analyse my career with maturity it was a right decision. I am glad I had the opportunity to work with different industries as an employee which enriched my perspective on businesses, on HR, on differences between companies based on values and culture. In the last 5+ years as (sometime solo) antrepreneur I boosted the understanding of business models, I feel like I grew more than in the previous years when I was just an employee. I can more clearly see the bond between HR practices and bottom line, through the empirical observation.
